One of His Quotes: “We May All Have Come in Different Ships, but We’re in the Same Boat Now.”

Martin Luther King, Jr. was a well-known Christian minister, a civil rights leader and activist who had a great deal of influence on American society in the 1950s and 1960s. He had a strong belief in non-violent protest, which helped set the tone for peaceful movement going forward.  Boycotts, protests, and marches were eventually effective, and much legislation was passed against racial discrimination. Assassinated in 1968, King’s brief life was filled with many great accomplishments, in which he worked to promote the equal treatment of all races; his non-violent approach to protesting, his legions of followers, and his true belief in the ability of mankind to live in peace went a long way toward advancement of civil rights during a troubled time in our history.

Seeking the Lost Sheep

“Leaving the Ninety-Nine”

     I.         Scripture Reading (Notice the Joy & Rejoicing in the Underlined Verses)

Luke 15:1-7 (NASB) – “¹ Now all the tax collectors and the sinners were coming near Him to listen to Him. ² Both the Pharisees and the scribes began to grumble, saying, ‘This man receives sinners and eats with them.’

³ So He told them this parable, saying, ⁴ ‘What man among you, if he has a hundred sheep and has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open pasture and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? ⁵ When he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing. ⁶ And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’ ⁷ I tell you that in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance.’ ”
